Year 3 VE Day 80 Workshops

Last week, Year 3 began a series of workshops led by the team from The National Memorial Arboretum, focusing on the 80th anniversary of VE Day. The first session emphasised the importance of Remembrance and the significance of passing on this message. The children engaged in writing diary entries, poems, and letters, imagining themselves as children who lived through World War II and expressing their feelings about VE Day.
The second session was centred around drama, where the students used freeze framing to explore and convey emotions. Our drama teacher, Kelly, was very impressed with the performances and the depth of feeling the children brought to their roles.
These workshops have provided a meaningful and immersive way for Year 3 to understand and commemorate VE Day, fostering both creativity and empathy.
